Yeah... I'm mostly a friendly guy on the net, but certain things set me off. Like this Mez person sending me three emails about a plugin saying, "I couldn't get it to work. It doesn't do what I want. Tell me where I can get something that does where I want. Now!" And then I bother to write back a kind reply saying basically, "Look in the config file and set the options to your liking," and Presto! It works just as expected.
But then I come to the support forum a day later and find another flipping post from that person, asking about that same specific plugin issue again (posted before I answered the question). Do people not get that I don't sit in front of the monitor waiting to answer their questions? It's crazy.
So, I'm sorry if my anger is misdirected, but I'm not sorry for telling it like it is to fools that can't bother to read the instructions and then ask ad infinitum about the same dumb thing before I even get a chance to debug the issue.
Owen, your plugin and wordpress rock. Please don't take the vocal bastards' attitudes to heart.
You've created much magic in the world with them. It's a pity that as humans, we only take the time to say anything when we're pissed....
Well, I'm glad someone is deriving satisfaction from my work. ;)
Oh, there's no doubt about that. I use your Adhesive and Countdown plugins and find them to be valuable assets to my blog.
Oh hell yeah, man--your plugins are very cool--but Jonathan's right--most humans only speak up when things don't work because it's part of the process of getting it to work. We're all so busy that we don't want to take the time to read the instructions. We all went everything to literally be "plug and play." Well, we're not *all* that way :)
Just keep doing your best, Owen and if that's not enough for people, screw 'em.
Oh, and by the way, if you don't post a code that allows me to include the latest posts from the MicroWiki, I'll kill your puppy. ;)
