This is a little skit(?) that we wrote for Assorted Hysteria, the college radio show that my roommate (seen in comments as Gregory) and I produced.
Once again, it's a lot of talking, so you folks that don't like audiobooks (ahem) might want to avoid this one. But it's funny as hell. Well, at least I think so. Hell is pretty funny to me.
I don't remember this thing being so long. It's from a tape that we did at the end of my second semester at UPJ that has a good percentage of the bits that we wrote for the show all rolled onto one tape. The logic in that was that we didn't bother to record many of the earlier shows, so we should just record them all at once.
The cafeteria ladies who were forced to listen to our show (which ran from 7-10 AM every other day) really loved us. Lots. We even won an award for the show. Didn't we get a trophy or something? Didn't frat brothers threaten our lives?
Actually, in the original taped recording (not in this compressed version) you can hear Kristy and Berta laughing in the background at certain points. Especially when Greg says "Whoa!" after I seem to admit enjoying walking around wearing only an apron.
Anyhow...
Or listen right here:
- Bitrate: 32kbps
- Mode: Mono
- Optimization: Quality
- Flags: Copy & Copyright (probably not important)
- Output sample frequency: 22.05 kHz
Wow, that is really long. A lot longer than I remember. Too bad we didn't speak just a little slower. I'm still snickering to myself at my desk. I seem to recall the transcript for this skit being about 4 or 5 double-spaced pages of type.
Yes, we got a trophy for the best radio show that year. It was this 10 inch high plastic thing with a gold angel on top (wouldn't a microphone have been more apropos?) and a plaque saying something about Assorted Hysteria on the bottom.
I remember the bug-eyed, short, angry lunch lady coming to the station and threatening us through the sliding window with her meat clever when we blasted "Mister Delbolina" about 4 times in a row one morning. And the Peta girl yelling at us for playing "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" (which you played again after she left and after you ranted about "Tom and Jerry" and the coyote and Road Runner cartoons being violent to animals) and the frat boys being angry because we said that the Acacia turkey club wasn't very popular because nobody wanted to admit to being a turkey.
Lots of good times and good memories.
I will make a point of finding some of that hardcopy this weekend and getting copies off to you. Thanks for putting this up.
Hey is that a hit at me? lol.
I'm going to try and listen so there.
Maybe you'll get me into this whole audio book thing. ;-)
heh that's great :)
even Steve came and listened for a bit - he said it reminded him of "Who's on First" (which he loves)
