So long, image-replaced H3s!

I switched the site over to sifr. This is a method for replacing headings in HTML with a flash applet that has a specialized font.

The instructions included in the archive are fairly complete. A couple examples of the more advanced parameters of the sIFR.replaceElement function would be nice.

All of this Flash business will probably not make Pat happy, but I want special fonts and he can find a filter that removes Flash content. :p

The header is repeating twice for every post on my screen. I'm using FF. Perhaps you're doing that intentionally as a transitional effect.

Really nice, it's so much 'smoother' than before. Loaded a lot faster for me as well.

Yeah, the old method was really taxing my server. Well, not really, but it was making my server logs really big. ;)

Joey, interestingly enough we've heard of this problem some days ago. It appeared to be caused by FlashBlock on a Mac. I'd appreciate it if you could contact me so we can try to get a handle on this bug.

Owen, glad you like sIFR :)

It's really nice, but has some drawback, though. I use mouse gestures on Firefox, and if I accidentely start the gesture over one of the flashs, it won't work, since flash captures the right mouse button and handles it on its own.

Anyhow, it really is faster than before.

Yeah, sIFR is the stuff. It sure does beat the image-replaced headlines.

As far as mouse gestures go, I understand your plight, but you'll find no sympathy from me for this bizarre way of navigating. What advantage does it provide to you, personally, over context menus or toolbars? I've had so many false reads of gestures (close tab instead of forward, say), it's totally not worth the "time savings" for me.

Besides, if I can do anything to make all of you use your computers exactly like me, I will. Bwah-hah-hah!

Dude... I use the TabBrowser extension. Just middle-click on the tab you want to close. You can even close ones you aren't looking at. I use this in Firefox so frequently, that I try to do it (unsuccessfully) in my other tabbed programs, too!

Oh, I just LOVE mouse gestures, it's oh so handy! You don't need to concentrate on hitting the little 16x16 "close tab" button. Just go right-click, down, right anywhere. Can't live without.

And you can't live without it, too, believe me. Go here and watch. You feel tired. Tired. Tired. And you LOOOOOVE mouse gestures. Snip.

Gerd, well, I prefer to leave my mouse alone. Better for the arms :)

Nifty! I just implemented it on my site as well today :)

Owen, but your TabBrowser can't do right click, up, left, up to go to the current sites parent directory :-).

In the meantime I use that down-right to close documents everywhere accidentely, too. Brings up funny results from time to time :-)
