Dawn of the Almost Dead

I was pretty tired last night before bed. Berta and I stayed up a little too late. Somewhere near the end there I was rambling on to her, trying to explain the vagaries of the javascript in my autosave plugin for WordPress. She stared at me, listening, but I could tell that she was too tired to absorb any of it.

I think I just needed to tell someone what I had been working on, and poor Berta was available. When we're 70, she'll just walk away in the middle of my talking, assuming I'll continue talking aloud to myself. I'm surprised she doesn't do that now, really.

And so this morning, after two days in a row of sub-standard sleep, I am kind of zombie-like.

Note that this post has no point except to point out that I am zombie-like, and you'll realize that had I been in a moer rested state, I might have written about something significant and interesting. But keeping the site live and amusing is a chore that requires concentration, which isn't in abundance when I just want to crawl under the desk and snooze a little.

You're working on an autosave too huh?

Mine would have been done by now except I screwed up my wrist and couldn't really type well for a week :(

It could be interesting to see what each other have come up with...

  3. Sorry to hear about your wrist. I'm always afeared that I'm gonna get my fingers shut in a door or something.

    Have at it.

It's not complete for two reasons:

    1. Can't figure out why the javascript isn't applying itself to the Simple Editing page.

    2. Want to change the update thinger (you'll see what I'm talking about if you look at it) so that it's a different color after you change the post up until the autosave happens.

Note that the Dojo code this uses is compiled from their SVN as of the 21st and that this thing looks extra spiffy in my cool CSSified admin panel.

This is totally not release code - It doesn't work! (This is a warning for all those who might be paying attention and think they want to link here witha release announcement: Don't! Otherwise, the man behind the curtain often lies...)

Yeah, this was less a door, more flying off a mountain bike into a tree :(

    I shall play :)

Interesting to see the AJAX approach, however it seems a lot slower and more work on the server than a simple client side approach.

I've tided mine up (it uses JS and cookies) and posted it here. I'd be interested to see what you thought of it.

So far though.. so good on yours. I'm still not sure about the ajax thing tho...
