Design Change

You might have noticed a design change. You might not.

I'm not sure I like all the lilac. I might have a change or heart hue-wise, and rotate everything more in the blue direction. We'll see.

Basically, there's nothing to this theme. It's just different. It consists of the fewest possible files to still have a functioning theme.

The thing I like about it most is the separation between pingbacks/trackbacks and comments. Yes, I like that.

Ok, I'm tired and am going to stop writing with the skill of a 6-year-old now so that I can go to bed.

  1. Very nice :)
You just might want to look into that one little lone checkbox below the comment submit button. ;-)

  2. Owen, your theme is almost identical to the one I have in development for my blog at the moment. 3 column fluid layout, blueish-purplie colorscheme and as simple as possible.

I'm going to have to change my colour scheme now! ;)

  3. Owen, Does this mean that you'll be releasing Artychoke to the public? ^_^

Valerie, I think that's the "Subscribe to Comments" checkbox, but it certainly has no visual description.

  4. I like!

I'm not sure purple is your color... ok purple isn't *my* color, but I'm sure it will grow on me.

    I love the layout tons!!

  5. Looks good. Makes it a little easier to see (and find) all the important bits.

Personally, I think comments should get more prominence than pings/tracks. You could slip the list of pings/tracks into the first sidebar, under the Post rating, perhaps.

  6. Thanks for the kind comments, everyone.

I think the checkbox issue is fixed now. I had modified subscribe-to-comments for Artychoke, and had to re-modify for 2169 (that's this theme).

Artychoke, by the way, is so mangled from my use by now that I wouldn't inflict it on anyone by releasing it into the wild. I may work on reintegrating some on-page editing into this theme in the form of another plugin I had been working on. We'll see. If I do, I'll probably release the plugin.

I'm not sure purple is my color, either, but the layout is so much better that I might not bother changing the color. I'l sure the whole thing would appeal to me more if I shifted it more toward blue. So, look out if that's your plan.

I think that comments are more important than *backs, too, but I really like having the comment form not be against the left edge - crazy personal aesthetics. Also, I want to be able to resize my window so that the sidebars are not visible, but all of the post details are, so putting them in one of the sidebars won't do. Good suggestion, though.

  7. I like it, Owen. It's crisp, clean, easy to read. (=

    Always a bonus in a blog. (;
I've decided that blogs with a black background make my head hurt. (TMI, I know. (; )

  8. I like it, but the font you're using for the post titles... ugh

  9. Craig Hartel

/me slaps Vidar upside the head!

This is a nice layout, OW, but it's all the stuff you have here that keeps me coming back!

  10. The only thing I don't like about the Kendo font is the "L". And it could stand to be a bit bolder or something. Oh, well.

    Thanks, guys!
