Why didn't I notice this before?

There's an option in Google Maps (See the "Hybrid" button in the top-right?) to overlay street name data on top of the satellite data. Cool!

    Multimap has been doing that for quite a while... it just hasn't get the cool factor of being able to scroll around as easily (though the map ovrlay follows your mouse).

    Its street maps are better for the UK though, so I use it more. GM is good for the US, but outside that its not as nice, or detailed.
