Have I mentioned the new car?

We were on a hunt for a new vehicle over the last couple weeks of July. Our CR-V had seen better days, and now after the transmission slipping and the unnatural squealing upon taking turns it was time to get a new car.

This is the most exhaustive search I've ever been on for a car. We went to four dealerships and looked at different models. I wrote about some of them here. I didn't write about the Honda because we hadn't driven it yet, but it was a disappointment. They couldn't put all the options we wanted into the car. The sales guy seemed to know that we would walk away from it before driving it, and after our last Honda experience (the CR-V) I wanted something that wasn't a Honda. more

Aprica Strollers

We're going to need to look into these Japanese-designed strollers for when Number Two comes along.

Weekend Plans

I'm not sure what we're going to do yet tonight. It's a gaping hole of entertainment opportunity that I will probably squander. Although I really feel like a nice hamburger grilled at home. Maybe I can convince Dave to pack up his fight sticks and come over to play DOA3. We could even use the gift card Dan gave me for my birthday to get some badly needed controller extension cords. Finally, something worthy of the gift card.

Tomorrow is another thing. I'm running D&D tomorrow, assuming the Earth doesn't end. I'm optimistic for the Earth not ending and so I should probably finish writing up the story for tomorrow's game. This game has been interesting in the planning stages because in spite of not having each night's events planned out in advance, each step of the adventure has long before been scripted.

Tomorrow's game night takes adventurers to the exotic locale of the backwoods of Cormyr, where a rope bridge awaits them. Do they cross it? Do they fall it? How many of the PCs have boots of Levitation and Spiderclimb? Will the hordes of people and orcs do anything to stop them from crossing the bridge? Who knows?! Find out tomorrow in the continuing adventures of... The Onyx Mirror....

Kid Two's First Pictures

I guess there might be a considerable number of family visitors that might like to see these pictures. They're not much to look at. Although, while we were at the ultrasound, they did tell us the gender of our forthcoming child. But, Ha! I'm not going to tell you whether he's a boy or a girl. D'oh!

Oh, well, it turns out I didn't hold the camera still enough. I'll post scans of the printouts later. I should've just asked for the pictures on disk, huh?

Baby Names v2.0

I was suposed to have created a voting page for baby names long before now, and I'm just a slacker.

Anyway, I've at least assembled some of the names that Berta and I like. These are not all of the names that we might choose from, nor are all of these names contenders. For example, there is no way that I would name my son Warren. No. Way.

I wasn't going to differentiate who had picked what names, but I will mention that I did not pick any boys names that begin with "W". Not to point any fingers at Berta or anybody.

Nonetheless, here is what we've got so far. I would be surprised if the actual name we use is not in amongst these names. Right now for a girl's name, I'm favoring Darcy. And for a boy, I still like Darien, but Riley is pretty cool.

In case it hasn't dawned on you why any of this is important, tomorrow is the ultrasound, and we may find out whether it is a boy or girl. It might be a bad idea to reveal which it is until we get some good names on both sides, because we don't want to be surprised in November and have to choose one at random. But we'll see. Anyway, the names:
