What is it with TV execs these days?

Berta and I had been enjoying the new midseason drama Eyes, which airs on ABC after Lost and Alias. It start Tim Daly as a smart-ass CEO of a private investigation company.

The show is smart, snappy, and entertaining to watch, and it’s being cancelled.

My interest in the poor Alias story is at an all time low, even with the recent Arvin Clone storyline, which could have been much more interesting. It also ocurrs to me that those plane wreck survivors are never going to leave the island, so I wonder, “Who cares?” I found myself looking forward to new episodes of Eyes more than anything else on Wednesday nights.

I didn’t even realize it was in danger of being cancelled until I looked to see when ABC had intended on returning it to TV after all of these specials they’re running. I has assumed that it would be something new to watch in the summer, but no, another good show goes down the drain. It was even getting relatively good ratings for that slot on ABC.

Granted, it’s no Firefly, but since they keep doing that to shows, you’re not left with much that’s good. Let’s hope the reality series they replace it with doesn’t suck outright.
