I’ve spent the past 5 days trying to download the unbroadcast episodes of Invader Zim. There are 10 episodes (if I’ve counted them correctly), and as of my writing this I have succeeded in getting 7 of them.
I also was looking around for my DVD archive of Zim Season 1 episodes, but I can’t find the disk anywhere. I used to bring it to school with me so I could watch episdoes during the break in my 7-10 class, but it’s not in my backpack or anywhere where I would expect to find it.
So I re-downloaded all of Season 1.
Actually, I’m glad I did, because now that the videos have had time to stew, really high-quality ones are available for download. All of the videos I have now are in full resolution in DivX format. Everything I’ve played back so far has been flawless.
I pulled a could of the videos into Vegas Video, and it seems to recognize the format they’re in. This is good news since that means that DVD Architect will recognize them, too. So I’ll be able to build my own Zim DVD set that will play back on the regular TV DVD player.
There are quite a few Zim episodes, and I think that it’ll take about 4-5 video DVDs to hold all of the video. If I just dumped the DivX files onto a data DVD disk, it would all fit on one disk. That DivX is pretty amazing stuff, eh?
Before you go asking or looking, here are some answers for you:
- The videos are not available from this site, but it's possible that I may offer throttled mirror services. (I have about 700GB of bandwidth per month, but I don't want to waste it all on Zim episodes.)
- I will not email you (or otherwise send you) the video files. I leave my torrent client running waylonger than I'm required to. My ratio is 1:2, which is double the norm. So find a torrent and use it.
- I will not send you disks, nor fill your blank disks. I create some disks for friends that are fans (when the disks work, right?) and for myself, but that's it.
If you really want Zim, you can wait until later this spring when they plan on releasing a multi-disk set that you can buy at the store. It should even have some goodies on it that I don’t have, like animatics and audio for unfinished episodes! That should be cool.
