After playing with the Pre and the 30 applications that are available for it, I’ve come up with a short list of applications that I’d really like to have.

  • Feed Reader - An interface to Google Reader that's not the web browser, including some podcatching features.
  • Geocaching - A geocaching application that interfaces with the geocaching.com web site.
  • Audible - An Audible player for Audible's DRM'ed audio books.
  • Tower Defense - Yeah, it's really the only game I played on my old phone.
  • Evernote - The current version sucks. Integrated photo-taking. Automatically tagged location-awareness. Selectable notebooks. Hello?
  • Calculator - I want a real calculator, one that does trig. Maybe even Wolfram Alpha-branded, with similar results.
  • Flickr - Less its own application as an integrated option for photo sending and searching.
  • Viddler - All my videos are here, not on YouTube, and I'm stubborn.

Also, cut and paste is nice. But. I want to do it when I’m holding down the gesture areas, not the keys. Left side can be cursor movement (like the option key) and right side can be selection (like the shift key), or vice-versa. I don’t want to have to open the keyboard to select text.

Is that too much to ask? The other applications are nice. Now lets get serious. Release the SDK to the public, so some of these things can start to happen.
