Microsoft vs Eolas
It seems that Internet Explorer will require a click to play Flash or other ActiveX embeddings due to this patent suit. What a sham. I wonder how long before it affects Mozilla.

In a typical TV network move of stupidity, ABC has cancelled another promising show. Love Monkey is an oddly-named show that is difficult to briefly describe, and perhaps that’s why it got the can.
Tom Farrell (played by Tom Cavanagh) is an A&R guy for a big record company. And then he gets fired and loses his girlfriend. But it’s a strangely happy story, because he gets more of what he needs in the end, when he signs on with an small but upcoming record company to get closer to the “real music” than he could with the big guys.
I got more spam from QuickenLoans today. This is surprising considering the last message I sent to them regarding their emailing practices.
I have received a slew of unwanted and irrelevant emails from QuickenLoans since we got our mortgage through them. Worse yet, they periodically call me at work, wondering if I would like to refinance. Note that QuickenLoans isn’t actually the finance company on my mortgage, they were just the broker at the time we signed — we have had no reason to deal with them since our mortgage was completed.
I know how you guys love to read these things, so I’ll re-post my reply email here. Maybe someone at Quicken will take notice and get me off of their mailing list. Yeah, who am I kidding?

We are working on a new Internet Privacy Guide to help our clients understand identity theft and other privacy concerns. Please let me know if you would like a copy when it becomes available â€" I’d be more than happy to send you one.
In the meantime, I thought you’d find this important tip very helpful. Please feel free to pass it along to your friends and family.
Question: How do I stop getting credit card junk mail?
Personally, I would like the answer to the following question:
How can I get QuickenLoans and its agents to stop sending me junk email, junk mail, and junk phone calls?
Firas started asking questions about social networking, and I was going to write a little but ended up writing a lot. So I moved it here. Here we go:
The issue that I see with existing social networking sites is that they all exhibit the problem you’re discussing. That is, after you’ve created this network of friends (and who knows why you’ve bothered to do this in the first place) there really isn’t any point other than accumulating more “friends”.
Some of the sites are targetted toward a specific purpose, like recruiting or seeking work. But I don’t see many of the more popular social networks doing anything like this. It’s as if the whole point is to say you know more people than anyone else.
Part of the problem is that social networking has turned group topology upside-down. Traditionally, you join groups with common interests, then gather friends with those interests. In the new social networking model, it seems like joining a group is ancillary to adding more friends to your list.
The new Voltron website is pretty slick.
