DNS Failures

Over the past hour I’ve had DNS failures coming from my upstream provider. As a result, this server could not resolve hostnames.

This is somewhat inconvenient, since there are several services on this server that require domain name resolution to work correctly. For example, the statistics package I’m running resolves domains on every hit. So every page load is slow.

Film fun

Happy FFAF! It’s only Phill, popping round for a brew…as for movies, I saw Mr and Mrs Smith a bit back, it was funny, but not that great - the plot was poor. As for those i want to see, Charlie and the Chocolate factory is on my definite list. I liked the last film, but it wasn’t too true to the book, and it’s a long time since I read that, so that could be quite good…and bewitched, I think it has nicole kidman in it, saying that I’m not actually sure what she looks like. I adore the 1950s TV series, it used to be the highlight of the days I had off sick, and now they’re re-showing it on living :) I was always fascinated by magic so it could be a good film…

I suck

Yup, I suck again. I am so not into the movies this summer. Of course, for the last couple of years, I really haven’t been.

I loved the Star Wars movie, of course. And that’s the only one I’ve seen this summer, I do believe. I’m supposed to take Sarah to Madagascar, but I guess I’ve been putting it off. Nothing out there is really so interesting.

Let's go out to the movies...

So far this summer, I’ve seen two movies: Batman Begins and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have to say that I enjoyed both of them. I’m still waiting to see War of the Worlds, but what used to be anticipation has turned into reluctance, firstly, because I’ve heard opinions that it wasn’t very good, and secondly, because Tom Cruise has managed to become someone I can’t stand in the past few months.

While neither is going to be a summer blockbuster, I’m very much looking forward to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and King Kong. I believe both movies will be available on IMAX, which is an added bonus!

Oh crap!

I have had a pair free movie passes in my hand several times this summer, but something else has always come up so that I couldn’t attend. The free passes went to friends with the stipulation that they’d provide reviews as to whether or not I should watch it once it came out on DVD.

The freeviews so far have not been movies of my genre. But, my friends had fun … at least the free tix didn’t go to waste.
