Man, I’m just the luckiest guy this Christmas! My Secret Santa had already sent a wonderful gift of the System of the World, but today a postcard arrived from Amazon informing me that she has ordered me a gift subscription to Interview magazine! Isn’t that cool?
Interview has been on my Amazon list for so long… I’m so glad that it’s finally coming. Mucho thanks to my Secret Santa, who will be revealed to me officially on Christmas. (I have a good idea who you are, but I don’t want to assume anything and post my foot into my mouth.)

My Secret Santa gift just arrived! Unfortunately, I had to “unwrap” it early to find out what it was instead of leaving it a surprise. I’m expecting certain other items for my personal gift-giving to appear in Amazon boxes, you see.
Anyway, it’s a copy of Neal Stephenson’s The System of the World! Just what I needed to complete my trilogy! Thanks so much to my Secret Santa!
I stopped at Wawa between dropping Abby off at school and going to work so I could get something to drink. (Wawa is the regional convenience store, named after a local farm, which was named after a tribe of indians.) A large van belonging to some car servicing company was parked oddly - it was blocking several prime parking spaces. I didn’t really get a good look at what was going on, but I was thinking, “That’s somewhat rude to just sit there and block all of those parking spots, not to mention the traffic flow, just so you can talk to your buddy while you drink your coffee.”
When I came out of Wawa, I realized what was going on.
