Had I mentioned that our whole town is getting Verizon’s Fios - Fiber To The Premesis - sometime within the next year? Did you want proof?
I took these pictures of the utility pole behind my house this morning. There, you can see the large box that the Verizon guys installed sometime within the past month. If you follow the really thick cable, you go all over the place. I haven’t checked yet, but I’m pretty sure it leads directly to the Verizon Central Office which is just a block or so away.
The cable leads in the other direction to several large cylindrical things that go in different directions. One leads into town, and one out. If you follow the cable into town, you can follow it down Jefferson Ave, and you’ll see the same thing you see behind my house: A giant Fios box next to every house.
I’m pretty excited about this development, as you can tell. I’m anxious to get HDTV service via the telco, along with a 30MB download pipe!
