I suck

Yup, I suck again. I am so not into the movies this summer. Of course, for the last couple of years, I really haven’t been.

I loved the Star Wars movie, of course. And that’s the only one I’ve seen this summer, I do believe. I’m supposed to take Sarah to Madagascar, but I guess I’ve been putting it off. Nothing out there is really so interesting.

Let's go out to the movies...

So far this summer, I’ve seen two movies: Batman Begins and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have to say that I enjoyed both of them. I’m still waiting to see War of the Worlds, but what used to be anticipation has turned into reluctance, firstly, because I’ve heard opinions that it wasn’t very good, and secondly, because Tom Cruise has managed to become someone I can’t stand in the past few months.

While neither is going to be a summer blockbuster, I’m very much looking forward to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and King Kong. I believe both movies will be available on IMAX, which is an added bonus!

Oh crap!

I have had a pair free movie passes in my hand several times this summer, but something else has always come up so that I couldn’t attend. The free passes went to friends with the stipulation that they’d provide reviews as to whether or not I should watch it once it came out on DVD.

The freeviews so far have not been movies of my genre. But, my friends had fun … at least the free tix didn’t go to waste.

Summer Movies?

There are movies out there? Really? Who’d have thunk? Well. That’s not entirely true. (; I have been to the movies in the last couple of months. Once. I went to see ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ with a friend of mine. I was really wary, actually, because I really enjoyed the original ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ that came out in the ‘70’s. But - I admit. It was utterly fantastic. Much closer to the book - which I read in high school. Johnny Depp was utterly amazing as Willy Wonka. He seriously vanished into the character. For most of the movie, I couldn’t find any Depp in him at all. There was an occasional moment - but, overall, he did a fantastic job.

For other movies - my mom says ‘Batman Begins’ is really good, so I’ll probably go see that. And I’ve got mixed feelings about ‘War of the Worlds’. I’m not a Tom Cruise fan. I’m really just - not. And the mixed reviews aren’t helping either. Anyone got any thoughts on it? Good, bad, indifferent?

Why geeks make me hot

In my life I have dated a variety of men. I’ve dated the jock, the good ole boy, the frat boy, preppies, ect. None of these pay attention to a woman’s needs like a geek. Geeks pay very close attention to detail in every aspect of their life. Geeks are much more of a challenge and so much more interesting. Don’t ask “How was your day” and expect just an answer of “fine”. You are going to hear the whole shebang. Geeks will provide you with conversation that will exercise your mind.

A geek doesn’t try to be someone he is not. When you meet a geek, you know that who you are meeting is who you will know from then on. No personality switches with them. They will only try to impress you with their knowledge. They will love you and only you (well, unless you feel threatened by the newest release of Linux software).
