Freakish Fanboy
I’m becoming a freakish fanboy here, but check out the E!Online poll numbers for getting a second season of Veronica Mars- 56% vs West Wing’s “less than 1%”. Woo hoo!

Themes that remove the wp_head()
call are outright broken, as are themes that do not provide some way of addressing each post via DOM whether it’s on the H3 or the DIV. I would prefer the DIV, but then we’d be changing the way it’s done from the Default theme.
Someone needs to provide a serious review service for themes so that these things aren’t overlooked. I think there is a sad disparity between designers and developers in this arena. Designers are often very concerned about what the site looks like and whether it renders properly in every browser, but often overlook or aren’t aware of hooks that developers are using to implement plugins or other features.
It sickens me that the power that I have granted Congress and the President have been abused to this extent. Whether I believe Terri Schiavo should continue on life support is immaterial. The government has robbed the judiciary of its power, and they’re the only ones who can really make an educated decision regarding this issue.
By endorsing this bill, which is directed specifically at the Schiavo case no matter what guise they try to hide it in, they’ve tacitly endorsed the parent’s request to continue life support for Schiavo without the requirement of reviewing the medical evidence or the wishes of her or her family. They’ve essentially taken the easy road to re-election by choosing sides with the uninformed populace and assuming that the case had not already been determined from the perspective of “presumption in favor of life”. They’ve assumed power for themselves that they were not granted, and subverted the process of checks and balances that we all learned in elementary school was so important. Our government has broken fundamentally today.
We bought The Incredibles on DVD while we were out last night. It’s a good flick if you haven’t seen it. Typical Pixar, which is to say, “good stuff”. The Jack-Jack Attack short on the extras disk is pretty good. It’s about what happens to the babysitter when the rest of the family leaves Jack-Jack at home to chastise/rescue Mr. Incredible.
Berta told Abby that this DVD is a “real” copy of the movie, not the BitTorrent mpeg version that I’ve been playing on the mod-chipped XBox all this time. I followed up her comment by saying, “Yeah, and this one probably doesn’t say ‘Property of Disney and Pixar - No Not Duplicate’.” But Berta was quick to reply, “This one probably does say, ‘Do not duplicate’.” Come to think of it, it probably says “Property of Disney and Pixar” too, so what exactly did I buy here?
I played the first half of that “The Office” video over at myspace.com, which totally wasn’t worth my time. I thought that I might like it from the buzz I’ve heard, but I’m definitely taking that out of my PVR timer.
More importantly, ever since I played the video my software firewall (inside the NAT-enabled Cisco router, mind you) has been throwing up alarms. Myspace has been portscanning me!
