I told you I would be posting the first full episode of Almost Friday over the weekend (for publication on Monday), but it looks like that’s not going to happen.
As it turns out, I actually have more time to do these things if I thrash myself during the week by staying up until all hours. The weekend simply held too many other distractions. Having other people around (Berta, Abby, Riley) is distracting, and I feel ignorant if I try to drown everything out with the MP3 player while sitting in front of the computer.
Last Friday, Abby and I stopped at Genuardi’s grocery store after I picked her up from school to get some Valentine’s Day stuff for Berta. I got a card - but I saw these little 5-inch cakes that were pretty cute and decorated for the holiday, so I asked Abby which one she thought Berta would like.
We checked out and took the card and cake home. We beat Berta home, but only by a minute, so I had to hurry and stow both the cake and card in the basement refrigerator.
Some days pass and Valentine’s Day arrives, to some surprise.
