How Much Did I Type Today?

I used to have this keyboard odometer thing installed, but it never worked quite right. I’d forget to reset it each morning, so I wouldn’t get a clear count of daily keypresses.

Anyhow, I just totalled up the character count on the three new wiki pages I added today. Just the new pages, not the changes to the old pages, and not the code that I wrote that was the impetus for these changes. The total doesn’t count the email between writing or any of the work I did on Wish List Live.

Secret Santa Gift Purchased

I got my notice from the Secret Santa elves moments ago, so I hurried out and looked at my giftee’s blog and Amazon wishlist.

I don’t want to reveal who it was, in case she’s watching somehow, but I think I got a good present. It’s a board game from the same people who made Settlers of Catan (you know, that game that takes hours and hours to set up, and even longer to play). It’s called Carcassonne. It looks like fun and the reviews are pretty good.

Delphi 2005

I’ve been a Delphi programmer for a long time. Since version 1, actually. I’ve been a Borlands fan for even longer. But lately, I haven’t kept up with my Delphi upgrades.

There are a number of factors involved, but it boils down to Borland not adding enough new functionality to merit having to upgrade and reinstall all of my components. Well, I just took a look at Delphi 2005, and it’s pretty darn functional.

At the bank, I tried to deposit a copule of checks, one long overdue. At some point, I will have my checks deposited directly into my account rather than having to go to the bank every week. Still, while the teller was very nice and friendly, I couldn’t help but wonder why I was being inundated with questions when all I wanted was to deposit my checks.

“Do you want your balance on the receipt?” They ask me this every stinking time. I don’t care. I don’t care! Is there some kind of security concern with having my balance on the receipt? If I recevied a receipt at all, wouldn’t I want a balance? Who cares?
