Ah, the power of cool technology…

We arrived in Johnstown at Berta’s parentls house at around 11:30 last night. I had prepared some entertainment for the car - our usual audiobook, in this case, James Patterson’s 3rd Degree. Instead of the usual tape or CD (over $30 at Borders!) I bought the book at the iTunes store and transferred it to Berta’s iPod.

I forgot just how massive the storage in that iPod is. I could have stored it in my phone, but it would have eaten all of my memor card, and there was no way to paly it back out through the car speakers. Berta has a gadget for chargingthw iPod in the car that will also broadcast it’s playback over the car radio.

Abby was content during the trip watching Bambi on the minivan’s DVD player. I kept seeing her in the rear-view, cringing at the actions on-screen. I’m sure the movie wasn’t too bad, and she’s seen it before, so it was kind of funny watching her expressions change in the back seat.

This morning I checked my email by phone and received the voicemail that Berta’s mom left at our house last night. With Vonage, we get all of our phone messages by email, too. Most of the rest was spam.

And here I am, waiting to get into the bathroom to shower, writing a blog entry. I full expect to post at least one photo from Johnstown before I have access to broadband again. It’s like some road-warrior challenge.

Man, this roughing it (no fiber) is a pain. Now where did I put that DVD I burned last night of Batman?
