There is a pretty vocal discussion ensuing on the wp-hackers mailing list at the moment about which plugins should be included with the core distribution.
It’s likely that they wouldn’t be enabled by default. Maybe they would be?
In any case, one of the font-running suggestions for inclusion is some sort of comment spam blocking plugin. I wanted to expound on my original post on why this isn’t a good idea.
