I was at blockbuster a couple of times over the weekend renting some video games, and noticed a sign for this new thing from Coke, Coca-Cola C2. Unfortunately, the only Coke C2 they had for sale at Blockbuster was a single can in a 6-pack. Weird.

But after I left Blockbuster, I went over to Croppers to pick up some stuff to use for dinner, and they had a whole rack of 20oz C2 bottles. I bought a couple.

Coke C2 is pretty much like Coke Classic in taste. There is something different that you notice when you drink it. I don’t think it’s the sweetness directly, though. It’s like comparing Bawls to other caffeinated beverages.

Bawls (in the blue bottle) doesn’t have that caffeine “kick” that rushes in and overwhelms you. Maybe it’s the guarana, I don’t know. But the sweetness of C2 is like that - it doesn’t overwhelm you. It’s sweet but not supersweet like Coke Classic.

I give C2 the thumbs-up and hope that they replace regular Coke with it entirely.

Now… If scientists prove that some artificial sweetener is really bad for you, you will certainly die if you drink any Coke C2. C2 has four different sweeteners in it, including the classic high-fructose corn syrup. You wouldn’t think that Nutrasweet, Splenda, Ace-K and corn syrup would taste good together, but they do. And people seem to like it well enough. So the question is, how does it stand up to Pepsi?
