owen

I was looking at Accuweather to check to see about the snow we're supposed to get through tomorrow and how it will affect our plans to go to New York this weekend, when I encountered this strange banner ad.

The ad does not describe what it is they're selling at all.  It's just a button that says optimistiacally, "You have 1 message waiting for you."  I couldn't think what it would be that they were selling, so I just went ahead and clicked it.

It turns out that it's some kind of vacation sales scam.  Boy, and I all too familiar with those.  That's not really a big deal, but I found the site behind the ad even more amusing than the flavorless ad was.

At the bottom of the page, it pitches the bottom line.  You will pay $199 for some Orlando hotel stays and attractions.  But will you?  If you total up the retail prices of all of the things they offer you in this package, it supposedly totals $1399.  Subtract from that the "Shopping Spree Winnings" I've won for clicking on their uninformative banner ad, and I will arrive at the vacation package price.

Hey...  Wait a minute...

Idiots.
