Helicopters must be very difficult to fly, especially if you’re in the Middle East.

With all of the accidents regarding flying vehicles in Iraq, I’m left to wonder a number of things: Does the military train helicopter pilots well enough to do their job? Are the machines they’re flying build soundly enough to stay in the air when properly piloted?

You just hear so much about these in-flight accidents - not helicopters being shot down, which is what I would expect to cause so many fatalities - as a result of common pilot error or “weather factors”.

Maybe regular commercial/private flight accidents happen more than I realize because they’re not widely reported, but I never got the impression that planes and helicopters were dropping out of the air due to pilot error here in the States at the same frequency that they are in Iraq.
