I wrote this neat little bit of code that displays a unique search on the home page. You might have noticed it when you got here if you're a first time visitor.
Basically, what happens is you search for something on Google or MSN, like this one. You encounter a link to the Asymptomatic page. You click on that link from the search engine page, and when you arrive at Asymptomatic...
BAM!
An instant search of Asymptomatic for the same topic that you searched on in the search engine!
This is cool because stuff usually rotates off of the home page, but the search engines link to the home page for that content. So when people search for things and come to the site, they end up going away empty handed. Not any more.
Actually, this feature has been running for a little while, but just tonight I added an ugly red border around the area and changed the background color so that people are more likely to see the search result box rather than read the main headline and hit "Back".
I thought it was a cool feature, anyway. I may implement something more like this for incoming links, too, so that it's easy to give reciprocal links to people who forward visitors. All of this SEO sounds fun, but I wish I had a good, specific topic to promote on the site to show my SEO prowess.
