Emily over at I Don't Think generously offered to craft book thongs for her readers recently.

Berta is always looking for a new book marker for her books because Abby likes to remove them and hide them.  Actually, I've seen books laying about that have torn bits of napkin in them since there is nothing else around to use as a marker when Berta is done reading.

Now, myself, I tend to memorize the page number of the book I'm on, so I don't use bookmarkers so often, but I see the general need.  But when I saw Emily's offer on her site to create book thongs (actually, I was drawn in by the "thong" idea"), I jumped right on board.

Here you can see the lovely book thong that Emily made to my specifications just for Berta.  It has a green dragonfly charm on it, which is the creature of choice for Berta gifts (some think it's the cow, but that's quite over, if you've ever seen our kitchen).

Berta was admiring the craftsmanship when I showed it to her.  I wondered how the knots got so tight up against the charms.  I realize that the loose ends are supposed to dangle out of the top and bottom of the book, but I wonder if some technological improvement could be made to allow the thong to become longer or shorter, or to better attach itself to the book.  Hmm...  I'll have to experiment.

Anyway, here's a big thanks to Em for the thong!
