On Saturday, Berta and I went into the city to meet up with some of the local WordPress users. I had anticipated seeing a few people I had talked to only online, and was anxious to meet some new bloggers.

It turns out (and this is no suprise to me) that WordPress users are really cool.

Things learned from the experience:

  • Most people are of the opinion that Comcast is the devil.
  • Many people have fallen into the work of web design accidentally rather than outright choosing it as a profession.
  • We have no non-hobbyist bloggers in our group (yet).
  • About half of our group uses Macs regularly.
  • About half of our group doesn't really live in Philly, and the other half either walked or took public transit to the meetup.
  • In spite of getting together as WordPress users, we spent less time talking about WordPress than mutually interesting technology issues. Fine by me.
  • WordPress needs media management. No kidding.
  • WiFi at our next meetup would be a nice thing, since everyone seems to have a notebook.
  • I should record the next meetup with my MP3 player so I can remember exactly what we discussed.
  • Ryan's got more Mac stickers on the rear window of his car than I've ever seen in one place.

Thanks to Maurice, Ryan, Doug, and Andrea for showing up. Hopefully this will entice a few more folks to come out next time. If you’re a blogger of any kind - WordPress or otherwise - come check out our group.
