Profile: Matt Haughey

This is a profile I did for my writing class on Matt Haughey.  He’s the webmaster of MetaFilter and the author of a couple of web books.  The assignment didn’t turn out exactly as I expected, because I did not choose a true direction to follow in the profile before I sent Matt the interview questions.  However, I cobbled together a pretty decent paper, I think.

Way Above Average

CodeProject, a resource site for developers, recently did an informal survey asking if in comparison to your work collegues, you were average, above, or below.  The results are amusing.  The explanations for the results are pretty interesting.  I think this does much to validate my theory of plebe programmers versus the seasoned veterans.  I wonder how many veterans got to where they are by hard work as opposed to natural ability?  I think it's because of my personal lack of evidence regarding hard work being used to get me where I am that I don't think I would do well if the economy forced me to find a new job.  Just a theory.
