Just a short note about my brithday while Riley is sleeping in the other room – I didn’t really invite anyone.

Dave called me in the early afternoon to find out if I was coming to the D&D game that I didn’t know was still scheduled. I told him, “Uh, no.” “Why?” he asked. “Because today is June 4th,” I said, waiting for his brains to catch up.

Dave called around and rerouted people to my house. I suppose that Jen decided not to come - I was under the impression that she was going to attend the game. Also, I’m not sure what happened to Dan, but as I said, I didn’t call around - is it snubbing if you don’t call anyone? Sorry, Dan. There were some other people that I had thought to invite, too, but last week was just a haze for me in that regard for some reason, and I didn’t do it.

I was actually busy arranging the charring of meat. As I’ve said about my birthday before, instead of people arranging a party for me and bringing me gifts, I arrance a party for them and give them food. We made a couple of racks of baby-back ribs, some chicken, a bunch of burgers, corn, and a pasta salad. There was also beer, which Ken brought. (Thank goodness, otherwise there probably would not have been beer.) The brownie thing that Berta made from the kit I got at Wegman’s on Friday was quite tasty, but I think I left the ribs on the grill a tad too long. Such are the effects of having more food to grill than usual, I think. The burgers we’ve had on the grill so far this spring have been exquisite, so I’m not sure how I managed to overcook the ones I made Saturday.

We just kind of sat around eating and talking, and listening to music from the School of Rock out back. It was a Doors cover band. They only sounded poor when you got close, so it’s good that they were echoing across the lot.

We discussed the Sith, even though Dave - for some inexplicable reason - has not seen it yet. You would think that Dave would have seen Star Wars before that prison football movie. Who knows?

Everyone fell into a food coma after dinner and we called it an early evening. I’m still kind of jonesing for some D&D, actually.
