Warning: This post is going to be a huge endorsement for a drain-cleaning product.

We have a slow-running drain in our tub at home. Every so often, it just gets clogged and we end up pouring a bottle of Draino down there to clean it out. The Draino doesn’t really even work so well or last so long.

Last night I was out grocery shopping with the intent of picking up another bottle of Draino when I saw a different product on the shelf, CLR Power Plumber. Myabe it has always been there and I opted for the Draino instead, but it turns out that I should have found this sooner.

Basically, this thing is just a can of compressed air with a gasket on top that fits the drain. You turn the can upside-down, fit the gasket on the drain, and push down on the can for one second while the air in the can blows down into the drain.

As you might expect, you have to cover any alternate openings to the drain. The instructions suggest a wet cloth, which worked well for me.

One second. That’s all it took and the drain was clean. The air from the can even had a pleasantly light lemon smell, and I didn’t have to worry about my feet melting off during my next shower since CLR contains no harsh chemicals. And if the drain does clog up again, I’ve got 14 more uses in the can before I run out. Compare that to Draino’s one, maybe two applications.

And now the drain actually drains.

Anyway, I was so impressed with this product that I thought I would mention it. Sorry if talk of clogged drains has disturbed your lunch or anything.
