Well here I am at work, waiting for the internet to come back online. Apparently there’s some kind of widespread problem with Verizon that is affecting our third-party-supplied T1 line. So the internet is down and none of our phones work, not even the ones that usually run when our PBX goes down.

Fortunately, I’m one of the most wired (er, wireless) people in my office, so I get to share my plight with you. This is assuming that your internet connection isn’t dead, too. And since all of the work-work I’m doing exists only on a server outside of this building, I really have only this to do until the net is back up.

Neat, I just learned how to make less/greater-than symbols on my Treo.

So Berta and I have arranged for Mok to watch the kids tonight so that we can attend the WCU showing of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The rest of my class will probably be there, too. I will have to write a three-page paper on the show and each player’s characterization.

If Mom figures out how to arrange Riley for sleeping in her room, she may keep them both overnight, and I might actually get some sound sleep for the first time in weeks. I shouldn’t make it sound like it’s all their fault, since I’ve been jumping up awake in bed pretty much every night this week. I’m not sure what that’s all about - 3am wakeup.

Last night and into this morning was interesting since Abby had no nap at school yesterday, and fell asleep in my car on the way home. She stayed asleep until Berta and I were ready for bed, and then she woke up for a glass of milk. It could have been worse, but she went back to bed with just a story.

Riley fell asleep early yesterday, too, and he was the problem. He woke up very early this morning, and at 5am he was kicking me in the head while I was trying to lie sleeping. Berta took him downstairs, but the damage was done (not to mention the very loud baby squeaking) and so I shortly followed after.

Abby came down subsequently, and I turned on cartoons while Bert showered. It seems that all of the cartoons on TV in the morning are about kids playing card games. Weird.

Riley collapsed asleep on the floor shortly after I turned on the TV, so I took a short snooze until it was my turn to shower.

So, yeah, pretty erratic sleep these days.

The fence people were supposed to come install our new fence today, but it’s raining too much so they cancelled. Berta did a lot of work cutting back bushes and ridding them of poison ivy. She says there is still a lot out there. Hopefully what she’s done is good enough for when the installers reschedule.

Speaking of scheduling, we’re supposed to schedule a trip out to Johnstown for Berta’s dad’s 70th birthday and 50th anniversary. In two weeks? That’ll be an interesting time.

I scheduled our summer trip with Interval. We’re going to Williamsburg. We’ll probably stop in the historical area, and at Busch Gardens. If I feel like driving more, we might pop down to Virginia Beach, too. It’s like a 6-hour drive down I95 to get there from here, so it’ll be ripe for audiobooks. Hopefully, this vacation is more relaxing than ones we’ve had in the recent past.

Alright, well, there’s still no net here, and now it’s lunch time, so I might as well trek home and see if I have power and internet there, and perhaps if my basement is still water-free after all of this yucky rain.

Whew, that’s a lot to type on such a small keyboard!
